There has been a huge increase in the number of body positive images hitting my newsfeed recently and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
As a female growing up in a house with lots of boys, I have always had a lack of self confidence when it comes to how I look and feel. It is a constant battle that I am sure both women, and men can relate to. In fact, I can count only very few people that I know who feel 100% confident in themselves. And isn’t that a sad reality we live in?
A few months ago I was talking with a friend about putting together a body positive photoshoot just to try it on for size. It wasn’t something I had done before, but I felt strongly about it and really wanted to give something new a whirl.
Naturally, this conversation progressed, models were found, two make up artists booked and a date was set. And the result was just how I imagined. Real women, showcasing their beauty and oozing body confidence.
And not only did these women look amazing on the outside, but they felt it on the inside too.
“Thank you for making me feel beautiful! I felt so anxious before but you made me feel so comfortable, I would love to work with you again!”
What more could I ask for? I think I’ve found my new favourite type of photography – one which empowers and really makes a difference in someone’s day.
A big thank you to everyone involved in this photoshoot, and a special thank you to the beautiful fluff balls from 9 Lives Orphanage for joining in on the fun!
