I first met Jesse and Carley online in the New Zealand Wedding Discussion Group. Jesse was asking for recommendations for a wedding photographer. He said he was marrying the “love of his life” and it was quite clear from his post that he genuinely meant every word.

Being a part-time wedding photographer has allowed me the opportunity to really get to know my couples and I instantly knew that I wanted to get to know Jesse and his bride. I am a sucker for a love story, and genuine connections. So, I popped a link to my website on Jesse’s post and said I’d love to put myself forward.

It didn’t take long for Jesse and I to strike up a conversation over messenger and a few days later I was lucky to meet Jesse and his beautiful fiance Carley in person. We met at a local coffee shop and they excitedly told me all about how they met, how their relationship blossomed over the years and how they were planning to get married before they planned to start a family. Jesse and Carley are both very down to earth and were more interested in their vows and promise to each other than a big fancy wedding, and that excited me! Please don’t get me wrong – I love a big white wedding with all the trimmings, but I am also a firm believer that the most important thing on your wedding day is the celebration of you as a couple.

After booking me as their wedding photographer, we met again for a sunset engagement photoshoot at Bethells Beach. This was a location chosen by Carley and Jesse as it’s somewhere they often go to walk their two fur babies. I always find an engagement session allows my couples to get more comfortable with the camera, and it also allows them to feel at ease with me being their third wheel!

Before we knew it, the wedding day arrived and I met Carley in Browns Bay at her Mum’s house where she was already getting ready. I really enjoy this part of a wedding day. Capturing those small and significant details, and wallowing in the buzz of excitement and emotion – there’s nothing like it! I knew Carley would make a stunning bride but it didn’t stop me from being blown away! I knew Jesse was going to be a mess when he saw his beautiful bride and I couldn’t be happier for them both.

Fast forward a few hours and I headed to the venue, the beautiful Casabella in Kumeu, Auckland. I found Jesse nervously waiting for his bride and soon enough she was ready to join him at the end of the aisle.

It was a beautiful ceremony officiated by Siobhan Swartz and finished with hugs, kisses and delicious cake.

The new Mr & Mrs Greenslade then joined me at Muriwai Beach for some private photos away from their guests. This was a great opportunity for Carley and Jesse to spend time together and celebrate their marriage as a couple before heading back home to change and have dinner with their nearest and dearest at their favourite restaurant in Takapuna.

Thank you again to Carley and Jesse for choosing me to cature their wedding day. It was an honor to celebrate this special time in their lives and I wish them a lifetime of happiness.
