I met Georgie and Sam at an Engagement Photography workshop hosted by Ethan Lowry, who happens to be an all round stand up guy and someone I am happy to call my friend. Ethan is also Sony New Zealand Digital Imaging Advocate and has been a wedding photographer for a number of years, and has a laid back and easy style to the way he shoots. This is something I really resonate with as he treats people like friends rather than clients, and that’s how I like to work too!
At the time of the shoot I was working at Sony New Zealand as a Marketing Executive in their camera team, and as part of my role I was asked to go along to the shoot with some extra cameras and lenses for attendees to try out. Of course I was more than happy to oblige, and whilst taking part in the workshop I managed to sneak in a few images of my own.
Our attendees booked their spot through Sony’s Event Platform – Sony Scene and it was great to hear first hand how they found out about the workshop and why they booked to come along. That’s one of the things I love the most about the photography community here in New Zealand, most people are keen to learn and also help each other grow.
You may recognise Georgie from her Instagram – thisisgeorgiie – this is an honest blog about Georgie’s life after her beloved father took his own life. She speaks very openly about trauma and suicide loss and it is so refreshing. After the shoot I found Georgie’s Instagram page and started following her story, and I am so grateful for her honesty and willingness to share.
Thanks again to Ethan for running the workshop, and to Georgie and Sam for being such willing models #dreamteam
