I first met Dana and Aaron at Sheena and Brent’s wedding back in March 2019. Dana was Sheena’s witness and helped her with getting ready on the morning of the wedding. We got chatting and Dana mentioned she was looking for a wedding photographer. A few months later I received a lovely email from Dana to say she would like to talk to me about capturing her wedding, and of course I was more than happy to catch up and see if I was the right photographer for them.

It was clear from the start that Dana was very organised in her approach to her wedding. She already had the majority of the big things nailed and was busy thinking about the finishing touches with a good amount of time to get everything finalised. As someone who has worked in events management for almost eight years this was music to my ears, and we spent time chatting over coffee about their plans for the day, and Dana’s desire to do a first look before the ceremony.

When we met for Dana & Aaron’s engagement shoot the wedding was only a few weeks away so it was great to hear how everything was going, and how Aaron had come on board with the final stages of planning. Dana chose to have the session at Bastion Point in East Auckland, as she wanted something a little different to her wedding day photos.

We took a walk around the beautiful gardens, talked about their day, and how they were making the most of a free evening with dinner and drinks before heading back to Ayla. Another perk to an engagement shoot – being able to reconnect as a couple before you tie the knot, especially if you have kids!

We finished the session as the sun was setting, knowing the next time we would meet would be at their wedding rehearsal at the venue.

Have you just got engaged? Looking for a photographer? I’d love to chat about capturing this special time in your love story.
