Around this time last year I was gearing up to exhibit at The Baby Show. I had seen a spike in newborn photography bookings and knew this was something I was really keen to take on more of. There was however, something I wanted to try and add to my service portfolio and that’s Fresh48 Session.
For those who haven’t heard of Fresh 48, these sessions are designed for babies between 0 and 48 hours old. Often they can be taken at the hospital, or birth care; or in Honor Grace’s case – in the comfort of her own home!
I first met Honor’s Mum Liz through my lovely client Sheena, who’s family and wedding I had captured previously. Liz is neighbour’s with Sheena and also knows Kayla so it really was like being welcomed into this group of friends which was totally lovely.
Before Honor was born Liz and I caught up for a coffee so we could get to know each other a little more, and Liz could tell me about her birth plans. Of course best laid plans don’t always happen when it comes to babies and whilst we planned to take photos at the hospital, as it turns out Liz was home much earlier than planned and so I joined them less than 48 hours later.
I was met at the door by Honor’s very proud and excited big brother Austin. He was fascinated with my camera and took direction so well when I asked him if he would like a cuddle with Honor. As babies and kids go, this was a dream session and I had a lot of fun capturing those little details as well as some family portraits with Mum, Dad, Austin and Honor all together.
Congratulations again to Liz, and Andrew on their new addition.
